THE HOMEBREW CREATORS INITIATIVE

OPEN MYTHOLOGY SOURCE & LICENSE PAGE

Purpose
The works released under this license are intended to function as a shared mythological corpus: expandable, remixable, and indestructible. They are not a franchise, product line, or controlled intellectual property.

They are a living body of lore.

OPEN MYTHOLOGY LICENSE (OML-97)

The Homebrew Creators Initiative exists to release entire mythological frameworks—settings, histories, cosmologies, cultures, and narrative scaffolding—as open, reusable myth, not controlled intellectual property.

Everything designated under this initiative is intended to be used, not preserved behind permission gates; expanded, not protected from change; commercialized, not restricted to hobby use; and shared, not enclosed.

This page is the single source of truth governing how all such material may be used.

If it is published under the Homebrew Creators Initiative, this page applies.

BADGES

OPEN MYTH / OML-97 / FREE FOR ALL USE:

V1 – White
V1 – Black
V1 – Fantasy Wax Stamp
V1 – Vandyrian Prison Colony

Scope of Material Covered

This license applies to all content explicitly released under the Homebrew Creators Initiative, including but not limited to:

  • The Vandyrian Codex
  • The Thanatorian Codex
  • The Pangean Codex
  • The Greater Vandyrian/Imperial Vandyrian Codex
  • All derivative codices, archives, data files, timelines, essays, narrative texts, setting documents, maps, factions, mythological systems, terminologies, and worldbuilding frameworks designated as part of this corpus
  • All future works released under the same initiative or explicitly marked as compatible with it

If a work links to this page or references the Homebrew Creators Initiative, it is covered.

Grant of Rights — Plain and Absolute

You are granted unrestricted, worldwide, perpetual rights to use the covered material.

You may, without limitation:

  • Copy, reproduce, and distribute the material in whole or in part
  • Modify, adapt, remix, expand, condense, translate, or reinterpret it
  • Incorporate it into games, fiction, films, artwork, academic work, software, performances, or products of any kind
  • Publish derivative works for free or for profit
  • Use the material in personal projects, commercial ventures, or institutional contexts

No permission is required.
No fee is required.
No royalty is owed.

If you can build something from it, you are allowed to.

System-Agnostic by Design

All material is released as lore-first, not system-bound.

Statistics, mechanics, rules, and numerical abstractions—where present—are illustrative only. You are expected to translate, discard, or rebuild them to suit your preferred system or medium.

This applies equally to tabletop games, digital games, narrative works, and hybrid forms.

Open Use Includes Commercial Use

Commercial use is explicitly allowed.

You may sell games, books, modules, films, art, software, or other products that use or adapt this material.

  • You do not need to notify anyone.
  • You do not need to share revenue.
  • You do not need to apply for approval.

The mythology is not a gated brand.

No Exclusivity / No Enclosure

You may not claim exclusive ownership over the underlying mythology, setting, or concepts released here.

You may not re-license the original material or its derivatives in a way that prevents others from exercising the same freedoms you received.

  • You may own your original contributions.
  • You may not fence off the shared myth.

Any attempt to lock, trademark, or restrict the core mythology contradicts the intent of this initiative.

Attribution — Optional, Never Required

Attribution is appreciated, but not required.

If you choose to credit the source, a simple acknowledgment such as:

“Based on material from the Homebrew Creators Initiative”

is sufficient.

Failure to attribute does not invalidate your use.

No Canon Authority

There is no singular canon.

Contradictions, parallel versions, reinterpretations, retellings, tonal shifts, and outright disagreements are expected outcomes of open myth.

No derivative work is required to preserve tone, theme, ideology, morality, or intent.

If it works for your table, your story, your audience, or your project, it is valid.

No Warranty / No Obligation

This material is provided as mythological and narrative scaffolding, not instruction or guarantee.

Use it responsibly, adapt it thoughtfully, and assume full responsibility for how it is applied in your work.

Permanence & Irrevocability

This release is irrevocable.

Once material is published under the Homebrew Creators Initiative, it remains open permanently.

No future revision, sale, acquisition, corporate claim, or change of authorship may rescind the rights granted here.

The myth does not go back into the bottle.

Intent Statement

These works are released with deliberate intent.

They are meant to be taken apart, misremembered, argued over, rebuilt, contradicted, localized, and carried forward by people who were never asked for permission.

They are not a franchise.
They are not a brand funnel.
They are not a licensing trap.

They are a shared mythological foundation—meant to outlive any single creator, platform, or era.

If you are building something with them, you are already doing it right.

Everything released under the Homebrew Creators Initiative is free to use, modify, and publish—for any purpose, including commercial—without permission, payment, or obligation. The mythology is shared, permanent, and cannot be enclosed.
